Hi Point Carbine
Well I have quite a few rounds of 9mm that I've been storing over the years.
Bought a Ruger P85 back in 90 and after about 3 months I got bored with it.
Just saw an add at Cabela's for a Hi Point carbine in 9mm, and it looks like a pretty good buy at $225. I have a $50 off coupon.
I know they're a pretty primitive rifle, but word is they shoot well and I know they have a lifetime warranty.
Anyone out there have one or wish to comment?

Yea, that's what I've heard also, bith on the Hi Point forum and the Pa Fire Owners Assoc. web site.
Well called Cabela's and of course they had 20 units, however they sold the last about 2 hours ago. They don't knoe when they'll be getting anymore in.
Called a local dealer and out of 7 two weeks ago they had one left. Just picked it up, and I must say for the price of $239.99, I'm impressed. I got the new TAS 995. Here's a couple pics of it.
This is not mine, as mine doesn't have the hardware, but just a couple I captured, however I did just order a verticle forgrip, flash supressor, and a hi capacity mag of 15 rounds. both at a cost of $72.00 including shipping.
Can't wait to put some rounds through it.
Well went out and put a few rounds through the TS995 I got today and let me say.
AWSOME.
This thing is pretty darn nice. First thing I did was field strip the weapon, as I always like to do that so I can see how it's put together, so I get a little better insight on how it works.
Thanks to PAFOA forum, I got a Owners/Maintenance Manual. The one that came in the box was nothing more than......., well let's just say it left alot to be desired.
After stripping it and looking at the parts. found of course, they were all dry. With some gun lube from my flintlock days, and putting it back together, I kinda had a feel for it. I must say dry firing the rifle made me feel like the trigger was dead, and if you get one, you'll know what I mean.
With 200 rounds of my 9mm Federal 115 grain stored since 1990, headed out to my friends farm and set up a target at 50 yards. I was first with ten rounds, and I must say it was a good shooter. put all ten in a five inch circle. right out of the box. I'll add I'm a very good marksman, and that's no lie. At any rate now that I bragged myself up, and you all know I'm good , we proceeded to pop some off. My friend, an avid hunter who goes for the 7mm remmington mag, cause he goes out to Wyoming every year for elk, and not so much of an evil black gun man, simply loved the weapon, and he did great also.
All in all, between us shot we shot the entire 200 rounds.
This thing, although a 9mm feels and shoots like a Ruger 10/22.
We shot 200 rounds right out of the box, and I didn't have to adjust the sights at all. I'm very happy with the results. Perhaps if we would have shot at 100 yards but I doubt I'll ever shoot this thing at that range. No need.
All I gotta say is this rifle/carbine, for the price is awsome.
In my honost opinion, this is one hell of a good S/D weapon at one hell of a price. Sorry if I keep harpin' on this thing but I just gotta say, this rifle is great.
The stock is comfortable, and feels nice. Not to heavy, but a little more weight than the 10/22. Only comes with a 10 round magizine, but then again it's a 9mm. If you can't put something down with that, you shouldn't be a shooting in the first place.
Got a verticle grip, 15 round magazine, and a flash supperssor comming for it at about $64.99 total cost.
Tis is not mine, but this is what it looks like.

For the price, this is a great gun.

Got a call from Cabela's Friday afternoon about the HiPoint. Seems they had a new shipment come in and I was on the list. Even though I already have one, I went and picked up another. This one also the TS995, and came with a folding vertical foregrip. Got it at the sale price of $224.99. Havn't shot this one yet, but I'm happy with the price.

Well after the initial thrill, I'm still liking this carbine. Put another 200 rounds through the first one I got ,, and still no problems with ftf/fte.
The second one I got had a nice folding vertical foregrip, which made the price of $224.99 from Cabela's even more exciting. I added a flash supressor to that one also, removed the iron sights, and replaced with a Bushnell model 73-0134, 1X28mm red dot. As of now I've got less than $350 invested. Gotta get some range time on this one now.
Here's a pic of these two ugly guns.
I installed the extension tube and filter that comes with the scope, wich is why it seems a bit long.

Did you have problems with it?
Were you not satisfied with the quality? (for the price)
Did it not shoot well?
Just wondering, cause for target shooting, I like it better than the 10/22, cause the ammo is not that expensive and it feels more like a gun, and it's getting too expensive to shoot the .223.
As a matter of fact, it has become my primary HD weapon.
For me, it's a fun to shoot weapon, and I think it makes a better HD weapon than my handguns or 12 gauge.
