Default A r15

I'm looking at purchasing an Ar15. I really don't want to build one up. I will likely be shooting cans and cardboard with it. I want one that is reliable, and will always work. I don't like to buy things twice. I was looking at bushmasters but everyone is telling me they are over priced prices of shit. Any suggestions, I don't mind spending a few extra for quality. I was also looking into the sig556.

Adams Arms piston 5.56 or Smith and Wesson M&P 5.56 (Vickers edition) are great guns at a decent price, of course if money is no option Wilson Combat has some great rifles made to order. You may want to think about building one, its a lot of fun and is addictive as Jeeps.....its the BRD (Black Rifle Disease). Below is one of my builds, I have an SPR in progress.

For shooting cans and cardboard, the smith & wesson M&P15 sport might be something to consider, the 22 cal bullets are cheap cheap cheap.

I have no complaints about my DPMS. 18inch stainless heavy barrel. .556 1-9 twist. ACOG Trijicon 4x scope. Here are a few pics.

This Sig is an awesome rifle but is hard to modify, but doesn't need any modify. DPMS is a good reliable rifle as is the Stag. I also like Rock River.

By building your own you can save a couple hundred bucks and get the exact gun you want. Look around for a kit, assemble your lower and throw on the upper.

Everyone will give you a thousand different answers. It comes down to what you want to do with it n how much money your willing to spend. Big company names don't necessarily mean they are better. Like some people that just blert out a brand name doesn't mean anything. Its like me saying Chevrolet! Well Chevy what... camaro, Monte Carlo, ect. ect... ill give you tips. For plinking (target shooting with cans and bottles ect) a "standard" version is all you need with a barrel that says 1/9 twist. That will fire your common 55 grain bullet. Investing in some wahzoo rifle for cans would be a waste. Now personally I have a car 15 upper from rock river arms with a chrome lined barrel 1/7 twist, for target practice and personal defense. Chrome lined will last longer, will be able to take multi rounds through at a time and have less of a chance warping or having malfunctions. I went with 1/7 twist because I could have the option of firing a heavier round if desired. You're gonna hear many arguments about twist rate believe me. When your shopping you might see A2- A4 ,A5 ...variations. All it means is the year/style difference . Things to think about is barrel length, lower receiver uptions such as a lighter trigger and faster reset. A recommendation would be, buy an upper for plinking like a 22 Cal version and when your ready to get serious pull two pins and slap on your 556 upper. Hope this helps a lil bud.

If you don't want all the tactical stuff, the M&P Sport is probably a good bet. They don't come with the external forward assist, ejection port cover, etc. It's basically designed for the recreational shooter that doesn't want to be bogged down or caught up on all that extra "junk". Mossberg makes a nice sporter version too.

I don't know if any of them are legal to own here though. Are any AR's legal here? It's been a while since I looked at the laws. I hesitate to say and type anything about those kinds of guns for fear of a 20 year sentence .
