Ruger SR1911
Haven't seen 'em but if its at all like other rugers.... a ruger's a ruger: built like a brick shit house (overkill) without the frills, absolutely gets the job done but with little or no spit and polish and 'reasonable' accuracy. Tagging this thread as I'm interested in the first hand review(s) too!
I am going to start by saying that I am a big Ruger fan ... now that being said, I won't buy one of these for at least a year. Seems like all their handguns in recent years have had problems on their first run. Would rather wait a bit and see how things go first.

I have Kimber and Colt 1911s in .45 and .38 super. The Kimber is the way to if you can afford it. The Colts have a historic background but the Kimber is much nicer in my opinion. I've also had the Sig 1911 which was nice/different but I believe Kimber is the gun all other 1911s aspire to. BTW Remington also has a new 1911 out.

I'm sorry, but I have to respectfully disagree. Lots of MIM parts, an unecessary Swartz safety, customer service that has the mantra of "run 500 rounds through it and see if it's any better", etc. If you got a good one, that's great and I'm glad for you, but they also let a lot of bad ones slip through, and are well known for being aggravating to deal with in getting issues fixed. And for the price range in which they tend to reside, there are better made 1911s out there, IMHO. You're not far off in price from the likes of Nighthawk, Les Baer, Wilson, Dan Wesson, etc. The early Kimbers with the Clackamas roll stamps were extremely well made. I think they got the dollar signs in their eyes when they expanded, and started letting QC slip.
I'm not trying to trash your Kimber or say that no one should buy one, or anything like that, but I would hardly go as far as to say they are the pistol that all other 1911s aspire to be.
JMHO.
