As a LEO I've carried a Glock for 14yrs and luv em. I came across a great deal on a xd 45 so I bought it. I was pleasantly surprised how well it shot and how comfortable it was to shoot. I woulnt hesitate to carry it as my primary duty weapon. Oh yeah go with a .45, it makes much nicer holes!!!

I have carried the XD 40 service model for 3 years, have several thousand rounds through it with no issues. Caliber size is personal preference and all new self defense rounds are advanced enough to do the job. If I had to do it all over again I might go with a 9mm. If I had to change I would go with a Glock, but I can't justify changing due to the reliability of the XD. I like the Glock mags better, they run better dirty and the parts for a Glock are simple and interchangeable and easy to get. Parts are becoming more available for the XD. The XD naturally felt better in my hand, the Glock, not so much. Can overcome that by shooting it more.
Bottom line You won't go wrong with the XD. It is, in my opinion, one of the top guns on the market.

My buddy has an XDM .40 that he has let me put a couple hundo through. Love it. Putting holes in holes at 30 meters. Love the setup, feels good in the hands and doesn't make you regret shooting it all day, in the palm or the pocket book.

I bought the XDm and the XD. Still have the XD sub compact but sold the XDm. It was a great gun but awfully big and hard to carry regularly. I didn't feel it was any ore accurate or reliable than my 1911's. I can almost CCW the XD subcompact easliy but it too is a wide gun.
As far as shooting they are great. My XDm did have some FTF within the first 200 rounds but worked itself out the 3rd time I took it to the range. Maybe the cleaning and action helped![Don't Know](https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/images/smilies/z0tdntknw.gif)
I absolutely love springfield though and regularly carry my EMP.

I keep hoping they will make the XD in 10mm. If they do I'll buy the first one. I already own (for me) the best 9mm and .45 models made. Browning Hi-Power and 1911.

i own the 4" model in .45 acp i wouldnt trade it for any other handgun on the market and if you cant get the job done with 13 rounds of .45acp you deserve whats coming to you.
