I would love one, but they are out of my $ range. at least for a long time anyhow, i have no money to spend on guns. I have a friend with a few Kimbers that are just plain amazing.

Yeah the price point on the 1911s isn't justifiable for some but it really is a whole different animal compared to a polymer gun. I had to retrain myself how to shoot when I bought my first 1911 because it is unforgiving if you are a lazy shooter. Now my ultra compact 1911 can hang with full size glocks in accuracy
...but there is just something about the history behind the 1911 & the feel of steel & wood grips in your hand that is very alluring to me. I have an AR, but would dump it in a second for an M1 or a nice older Springfield. I just prefer wood & steel over plastic. plastic is fine and I have several, but it just doesnt quite do it for me. If that makes any sense.

I love my Glock, but I agree...my Kimber 1911 is an absolute dream to shoot. My first clip out of it after purchase with cheap Blazer CCI aluminum shells grouped in under a quarter at 20 feet. Always had a fondness for the 1911, as it was the 1st handgun I shot when I was 10 or 11. Don't think I'd want to CCW it though.
