It is my understanding that the rounds them selves are not armor piercing unless you buy... Amor piercing rounds.

I've shot a R.I.A. 45, I will say its a great gun for the price, it shoots pretty well and I have to say its probably one of the closest to the original GI model 1911. I still prefer my xd45 Springfield though!

I know law enforcement guys who will only carry 1911's and a couple pf them say Rock Island Armory is some of the best, for the money and one guy I know carries one all the time.
Some guys I work with say the Taurus 1911 are pretty good but some can be picky on ammo.
Between the 2 I would pick Rock Island. I carry a para ordinance and would some day like toget a kimber and/ or a Rock Island
For a side arm while huntingdont turn your nose up on a good revolver. Some say a old fashion but they are reliable and come in all shapes sizes

So at the gun show this weekend got to handle both. Really liked the feel of the r.I.a just seemed heavy and the finish suspect. Really liking 1911's die to the amount off custom. What is the best gun to mod? Or at least offers flex. Glocks, xd's px4 all seem static.

Rock Island Armory has been descibribed to me as the fighting mans conceal carry gun. The finish will last with good care for every day concel carry. for an every day Combat carry go something a little better like a Kimber, Springfield or Para. as far as custom work, the plastic frames of xd, glocks, and other can have custom work done to them and you can by slides and other custom parts but nothing compared to a 1911.
Personally I can shot a 1911 better than a glock. So I perfer the 1911. Besides the 1911 has an amazing history as americas war horse.
