Default 2 door JK with leveling kit, 33's on 17" rims??

Hello, all.

Got a fire cracker red 2 door JK and haven't added any mods to it yet but would like to in the next 6 months or so. It's a daily driver, so I don't want to do anything crazy. I'd like to get 33's on my 17" stock rubicon rims--I have a sport, but it came with stock rubicon rims--and a leveling kit. If anyone can send photos of your JK's with this build, or close to it, that'd be great for I'd be able to get an idea on what mine would look like to see if I like it.

Thank you!!

Welcome. Good knowledgeable group here. What 33s are you considering? You might encounter a Rub at full turn limits even with the lift thanks to stock back spacing; if so there are spacers to remedy.

33" Tire Diameter x Width

285/70R17 33.0x11.5

285/75R17 33.8x11.2

305/70R17 33.8x12.0

"required" is all subjective. There is no way of getting around the fact that any increase in tire size and weight is going to slow things down. How much of a pig everyone can deal with will vary. Some folks are fine with 35's and 3.21 gears....though I don't see how folks can live like that myself. Being overgeared is a bit easier to deal with in a manual, but we don't know what your current gearing or transmission are. Regardless, everyone's "normal" is different and folks get used to it.....and when it starts to aggravate you enough you regear. It's typically not the low end that will bother you as much as not being able to hold gear on the high end into a headwind....or constant downshifting and gear searching when passing or towing something.

Looks great! 33s with a leveling kit on your JK will fit well and stay daily-driver friendly. Check Instagram or Jeep forums for pics, they’ve got plenty of examples.
