Drivleine Vibration 1979 CJ5
I have a 1979 CJ5 with 258 ci inline six and a granny gear 4 speed. Slight shackle lift. 33" tires. Problem is a bad vibration and audible rumble in 3rd and 4th gear. Not as noticeable in 2nd gear at low RPM but any significant gas in 2nd will produce vibration and some shaking of the vehicle. I normal driving not in 2nd gear long anyway. Problem is 3rd and 4th. Funny thing is that it completely goes away above 40 mph and Jeep freely drives at highway speeds.
I have had the transmission and transfer case totally rebuilt, rear end serviced (gears are good), drive shaft balanced, and pinion angle adjusted correctly.
Can anyone provide suggestions? Is it still in the transmission? Why does it go away above 40 mph?

Is it only happening under load, so if you shift to neutral at those speeds - does the issue continue or stop?
My idea would be to remove the rear DS and see if that stops the issue or narrows down your source.
