T-5 Leak is making me crazy! Need some help!
This leak is driving me nuts! Based on previous advice here, I have cleaned and dried the tranny (T5 mated to 4.2 and D300), removed the access panel from the cabin, driven it a bit and then looked for leaks. Nothing obvious is happening, but I can tell that it is not from the mating of the tranny to transfer and it is not from the top of the tranny. It leaked several drips overnight and they are coming from the front, seeping out of the inspection plate.
What is my next move here? I have to get it fixed as this will soon be my daily driver.
Give me some ideas, please! Preferably from simplest to toughest
Thanks, HBC

6 likely culprits and you won't be crazy about any.
1.) Crack in the case BUT, very unlikely.
2.) Leaking past the input shaft seal - requires removing tranny. Not as unlikely, but possible.
3.) Leaking past bearing retainer where it meets the case, more likely.
4.) Leaking past the bolts due to the always stripped out holes in the case, even more likely.
5.) Most likely (and something you'll want to do while it's out anyway) is the bearing cup and shaft plug on the front of these T5s all leak in time. They are poorly sealed from the get. You'll need to remove the tranny, drain, rest it in a vertical position, THOROUGHLY clean the front of the case around that area, run JB weld (NOT SILICONE) around the radius' and let sit overnight. This sill require removal of the bearing retainer before going vertical and not losing some components.
6.) All of the above or combination of a few.
