I have an 84 cj7 that i plan on restoring.. whenever my wife lets me bring it to alabama from texas. (it is currently sitting at my parents barn collecting dust )

anyway, here is my question.. i will have a 360 v8 out of a 77 ramcharger that i plan on swapping into my jeep. my jeep is already a manual tranny but it has the 4 banger engine in it and i dont think that transmission will hold up to the 360's power.

what tranny would be best for this application? it will be a second vehicle but will be driven on the highway more than it is driven on the dirt.. sad i know

any help from yall would be great.

I would suggest a T5 because it was one of the several transmissions used in the CJ line, and it is a good 5 speed over drive trans with cheap parts and easy to re build.
