4 cylinder means it has 4 Pistons 2.5 litre engine 120 hp
6 cylinder has 6 Pistons 4.0 litre engine and 190 hp

The 2.2 liter, 4 cylinder Jeep that won World War II had 45 to 60 hp, depending on the variant.

Hey, I agree. Who would want one of those weak 4cyl TJ's or YJ's. I'll offer, for no charge, to take a few of those off people's hands to spare them the misery of owning them. Just PM me if you have one you just can't stand to have anymore. I'll even come and get it for free!

I'll 'fess up. All configurations have a place on the trail. I remember when the little Suzuki Samurais came out that they were small enough that they could go anywhere and easily extracted from trouble with enough strong backs. Also the engine could be pulled and repaired with a minimum of effort. I still see the odd one beefed up still being enjoyed. Just haven't seen that in any 4 cyl Jeeps myself. If you get too many donated I'll take one

So, I love building engines and the 2.5L is a fun on. My last YJ was a 4 banger and I stroked and bored it using left over parts from a stroked 6 cylinder that had a cracked engine block. The beauty of the 2.5 is that it is the exact engine as the 4.0L minus 2 cylinders. Piston diameter is the same, the connecting rod is the same, the bearings are the same. I never put it on the dyno but I bet I was close to 190hp at the crank. I had no issues running 35s at 80mph.

So, folks are wondering, how is that both engines use the same parts. Well either the 2.5 liter was actually 2.66 liters or the 4.0 was actually a 3.75 Liter or somewhere in between. All I know for sure, parts are interchangeable. My YJ (nicked name billy goat) was proof of that.

Did I read that right? $1400? What's to lose? Put a clutch in it, you could probably sell it for more than double.
