I'm priced out of a JK, need advice on buying a TJ used
Gents & Ladies,
I've owned only one jeep before (02 Sahara bought new) and while I truly love the JK 4 door X-S, I've resigned myself to paying cash for my daily driver & big kid toy. So that pretty much puts me way out of reach of a JK since I've got about $16k saved up for the purchase. Since I bought new last time I'd appreciate any hints or advice TJ owners have for a guy in the market for a used jeep.
I'm mechanically challenged but learning from the great content of this site. Now the last twist; my wife is doing the test driving of some local selections as I'm still in the Sandbox. What would be some things I could tell her to look out for when test driving? I'm having her get any jeep she tests inspected at a Jeep dealership. Off the top of head here are some of my assumptions and I'd appreciate feedback:
1) Try to find one within the 3 year/36000 mile warranty
2) Certified pre-owned if possible
3) Stock as I'm unaware of the abilities of the person doing the mods.
Should I be concerned with these things and what else should I consider? The max of my off road intentions are simply trail runs and fishing trips. I'm also moving to CO in the spring if that helps any. Thanks in advance
