Not sure if you misunderstood your mechanic or if he told you wrong. There is not a seperate IAC valve and idle speed motor. The idle speed motor is sometimes referred to as an IAC motor. It is on the throttle body. In 26 years working at the jeep dealer I don't know if I ever replaced one for a long crank time. I would look elsewhere. To rule it out, the other post that said to partially depress the throttle on startup is spot on. Also the last post mentioned fuel drainback. To check for that you can turn the key to the run position several times before cranking. The pump will run for a second or so each time the key is turned on and this will help prime the system and get fuel up to the injectors.

Default no bus.

ive got this msg coming up in addition to dead guages a few times. shut it down and srtart it up and its ok again. does my wrangler have brain damage? im wondering if this is related to my problem. i dont believe its a fuel related problem. it has been running better since the cam and crank sensor was replaced but i dont think they are/were the root problem. thanks again.

Default its been running alot better

so im just gonna wait and see for now. Im aware that this was originally posted in jk forum by accident so maybe a mod could move it or delete it if they want to. i may have a different tech look at it soon because the last tech specifically noted the idle speed control motor should be replaced if the idle air control didnt fix the problem.(even listed the speed control motor cost @ 47 dollars on my invoice)?? i couldnt find it on the throttle body and nothing in the haines manual. a second opinion and diagnostic check may help. thanks for any comments given here as they helped eliminate some of the possibilities. regardless, ill never be without a jeep wrangler- it was love at first drive. .

My 2000 had the same issue. But I always just turned the key to on for a few seconds, back off, and then start it. Fired up every time like that. It also always started quickly once warm, same case?

I have the 2000 Factory Service Manual which is extremely detailed. Want and pages scanned for you? Or want buy the book? I sold my TJ in October.
