My cousin just bought a "05 rubicon with 3" BL. His question is why should he get rid of this BL and spend money that he doesn't have for a BB. Is there an advantage over one or the other.

A BB is a little easier to install and requires less work in my opinion. But if the BL is already there and working, no sense in taking it out. A BB and a BL together is a great combo to start out with though.

If the body lift is installed and everything works than he can leave it. The thing I don't like is a large body lift looks terrible on a Jeep.

any reason why he could not run 285/75/16 or 33x12.5 with this lift?

A 3-inch body lift is just asking for trouble. Alignment problems with the shifter, Transfer case and man I just wouldn't want to rely on some long body lift pucks shifting or the bolts shearing off.

Personally if your going to do it on the cheap get a 1-body lift and a 2-inch coil spring spacer kit and longer shocks. You would have 3-inches of lift and you could fit your 33s in it.
