Default New to me 1978 CJ7!

Just bought my first CJ. I'm about to do an off the frame restoration. I'd like to put a lift kit on it and was wondering what my best option would be? The only 3 that I have looked at so far is pro comp, skyjacker, and superlift. They are all around the same price for the each of their lifts. I'm thinking around the 32-34 inch tire range. I like the lower center of gravity look, big tires with least amount of lift. Thoughts??

The good about the Jeep:

Has stock amc 304 V8 in it with 66,xxx miles on it, has an automatic transmission in it which i hear is pretty rare, the suspension has never been touched which means there probably isn't much problems with the drive train, the hard top is in excellent condition.

The bad about the Jeep:

The guy who repainted it did an incredibly terrible job, average/usual rust spots that are getting replaced, the doors are cracking, needs new seats, dash parts, and door panels, and I'm not sure if the 4x4 works. Over all I got s good deal on it that I think I can work with.

Default Congrats

Great thing about Jeeps, everything you need to make it a perfect ride is available and easy to get. It also reminds me of the cheap work I used to do when on a very limited budget. I had metal patch once, when you raised the drivers side carpet, it said STOP. Street signs are great for floor pan patches. Never saw a license plate used before.
Good luck.

Consider switching to YJ springs. The rears interchange perfectly, the fronts will need new shackle hangers, stock rear ones will work fine and are pretty cheap. Lots of threads out there on this for a home brew conversion or you spend more money on an OK Tire 4WD kit. http://ok4wd.com/rock-equipment-cj-2...ion-kit-1.html You'll have a bigger choice of lift kits to think about after the conversion. Some folks will convert to and run stock YJ springs in a spring over arrangement CJ Spring Over Axle. This article will at least give you the basics of the spring swap, even if you have no interest in SOA. Good luck.
