Default Questions about yj?

Reins of mine is looking at a 1994 yj what kind of things should he be looking at a far as issues with these any help would be great!

The only thing I can think of is don't buy it if it's a 2.5 liter. Get the 4.0 !!!

Normal stuff like rust in the frame and floorboards, leaks and smoke. Couple quirky YJ things are the vacuum operated 4WD and the weird circuit board thing behind the gauges in the middle of the dash. Good thing is parts are everywhere and a spring over axle is cheap and easy and will let you run nice size tires. With the 4.0 and decent gearing they run good too.

I had no issues with my 4 banger in the 6 years I owned the '95. Did have to go through the trans tho and it cost between 2 grand and 2500. Trans shop says the AX-5 was a POS from the git-go. Ran it well beyond 150K and other than the trans and an alternator givin up on night, I was trouble free. Alt was a no-brainer.
