Default Cable/connection questions

I'm trying to use some stuff from work, instead of buying what I don't have to. Could use some RG-214, if not, what cable is normally provided? Also, what connectors are used to the CB and on the typical (firestik) antenna? I may be able to find some connectors and just solder it myself..

CBs have a UHF or PL-259 connector on the rear. At the antenna it depends on the mount you have. Some mounts have a PL-259 connector that connects to the bottom. Others, including FireStik, are just a 3/8" 24 thread stud. In that configuration the stud is isolated from the mount and a large ring terminal connects the cable to the base of the antenna.

RG-214 is 50 ohm so it is usable. CB cables that I have seen are RG-58. The RG-214 is double shielded so it will be a little stiffer. It won't be harder to run but the hinge pivot at the tailgate may cause it to kink or warp internally over time.

You could use RG214 since it is also 50 ohms impedance. But it is more expensive than the norm because of the double braid shield. If you're getting it for free, go for it.
