ok..just installed the Cooltech CB antenna mount and firestick and am looking around for an SWR meter. Radio Shack wants $50 for theirs...that's a little high for something I'm only going to use once every few years.
While look around for one I can beg, borrow, steal...
Will it cause problems for the unit if I listen only? Will I be able to receive?
I know not to try to transmit until it's been tuned, but will reception only cause a problem?
Thanks

Another option, go to your local truck stop and find the CB shack out back that the truckers use, pay the guy $20 to dial it in.

why do you need a SWM meter? I was reading about it .. didn't really get why? I don't have one .. my cb gets about 20 miles away .. you can barely hear it but still ....
i've got just a cheap little cb that will do for trail runs for now .. til' i get a nicer one.
