CB Antennas and Hi-Kift Jacks
The jack can interfere with the antenna. But it should be OK if installed properly. The top of your antenna should be 6”-12” minimum above the roof of the jeep and the jack should not run in parallel for more than 50% of the lower half of the antenna. If your SWR readings are good, than you are more than likely good. The SWR would pick up on thing like that.
ok so i finally got some serious troubleshooting done today i removed the jack the other day and started sending and receiving so i thought it had to be the jack but i really didnt want to have to re arrange anything so i wanted more testing. I was talking with my step dad who is a farmer and he said to come by the feild he was working in which is by a good paved road and he was in a tractor with a cb. i folded the back seat and loaded the jack. went to the field and could send and receive from about a mile out. ok so then i pulled over installed the jack and did it again and got the same range with the same clarity so the jack has no effect on my antenna just couldnt get anyone to talk to me before. but only a mile doesnt seem to be very far so does anyone know what kind of range they are gettng out of their set up please post
