CB question
ok..my friend is a truck driver and he gave me one of his old cobra 29's...actually 2 of them..an antenna , mic and a linear100 ???. Anyways...I don't have the cables for the antenna or the CB ( I know I can probably pick them up anywhere but I have no idea as to how to hook the cb up(I'm a self proclaimed electrical idiot). Do I just go to the hot side of the battery and the body for ground??..also how are people getting the wiring thru the dash?..thanks in advance for any help
Its real easy man I ran my wires under this spot in the pic with a clothes hanger open the dr and pop off the side panel of your dash and you will see the hole filled with foam thats were you want go and I ran it straight to the batt pos and neg I used a coax cable for the the antenna
Here's another picture of a firewall passthrough--there's an identical one on passenger's side, I'm told:

Having said that, when I installed my CB I wanted it off/on with the ignition. So, I pulled the lowest panel from the center console and below the power outlet sockets (forward of the shift lever). From there I was able to find the blue/pink wire. This one hot and is on/off with the ignition. There is a similar wire, but it's not blue/pink (may have been buff/pink or something similar--don't use it!). I used a T-splice (visit Radio Shack for these) to tap into the hot wire, then ran that over to my radio.
The Linear 100: Don't know exactly what that is, but my guess is that it's an illegal amplifier for your CB. Don't install it. You don't need it for talking to other rigs on the trail, and while it's unlikely that you'll ever be caught (only the FCC can catch you for violating CB usage laws), running high power amps is fraught with technical difficulties (e.g., interfering with your nav system, garbling your neighbor's TV, garbling your FM radio reception, etc).
