CB Radio
I bought a President Adams cb radio. While driving the light goes off and on but the radio still works when the light is out. When setting in the garage I can't duplicate the problem
by shaking the radio. This is in an antique car which is 6 volt. I carry a fully charged 12volt battery just for this radio. The company says I have a power problem. What do you
guys think?

Off the top of my head - I would agree and say you had a power issue.
You are running your kit off of a fully charged 12v battery - which is probably a little better than 12.5 volts (at least at the beginning, then it will consistently drop).
A vehicle’s 12 volt battery whilst the vehicle is running (and charging) is more like a consistent 13.5+ volts.
The voltage difference is likely why you are seeing the strange behavior while away from home.
I assume you likely have your power source (the battery) on charge when you are at home in your garage? That is likely why your kit is behaving at home and not out in the field - you are charging above the battery’s ‘rest charge’ of 12.5 volts.
My two cents ....

Thanks Neville for the reply. I never had this problem with any other radios that I had in this car. The battery started out at
12.8 volts. The light started going off and on as soon as I started out with the car. Its an old one and it vibrates quite a bit. Used the
radio all day long and when I got home the battery read 12.5 volts. Would I still be able to transmit and receive with no problems. I guess
what has me confused is I had a cobra and uniden radio before and never had a problem like this. Thanks.....

Yep -
It is entirely possible that your radio will work fine at 12.5+ volts and just your lighting act up.
If your prior radios didn’t have back lighting (or very little illumination) you likely wouldn’t have noticed anything at all !
I remember when I got my Lux Rock Lights home - I pulled out my trusty 12v DC adapter to check their brightness on the bench.
The rock lights were only about 75% as bright on the bench as they were after the install (friggin’ blinding on the jeep).
Of course I may be way off here, but I think your radio is fine ....
