What channels are for what uses? I hear truckers use 19 and 11 is kind of a base channel but what about everything else?

 

Whenever you are on the highway and are stopped are in a traffic situation, tune in to 19. Also they will alert you of the cops in the area. The truckers will pretty much give you a play-by-play of the scene. Channel 9 is the emergency channel only. It is up to you as to which channel you want to wheel with. A lot of people have different favorites. My favorite is the one with silence, so I know that one is usable.

 

Other than CH9 you can talk on any of them. But it's kind of an "unwritten rule" that CH30-40 are for sideband use. At least that's the way it used to be. It may be different these days.

 

Everytime I wheel it ends up on ch 4.
