That particular radio does have a swr meter builtin but I would have it checked with another swr meter just to make sure.
Sometime the meter in the radio isnt as acucurate as they should be.
Its more for reference.
Better safe than sorry.
Iv got an old Cobra GT 140 that has one and I still check it.

The built in meter is good enough to set the antenna so you don't harm the radio. If you want more then by all means spend more money and you can get all kinds of fancy equipment to check power out, modulation percentage, and swr and all kinds of stuff. Point is the man can get his radio up and going without spending another dime, big selling point for that radio in my book.
