Uniden 520 pro $47.00
Teraflex mount $30.00 - over priced but what can i say i have two of them
Astatic 18 foot cable $15.00
Antenna stud $6.00
Firestik 2 - 3 foot antenna $20.00

total - $118.00

I run this setup in both of my jeeps. you will need an SWR meter to tune the antenna. The one radio shack sales is pretty good. I would not do a peak and tune. Waste of money. I did that on one of my 520's before i had ever really used it and i would tell you that the factory settings have it tuned better. If you want to peak and tune thats fine but at least try it without doing that a few times to see how the radio performs.

Some have mentioned the Cobra 25's and 29's. Those things are HUGE. one thing to keep in mind is that the max any radio (big or small) will push out from the factory is 4xatts (unless they have been peaked); thats the legal limit.

Thanks for the help man a lot of good info on here. I feel like I am making the right decision

The one above the mirror? Because under product details it doesn't say mount for cb. I was going to order the bracket by the right leg driver side...

Its a simple mounting bracket. Most of the CB's I have purchased came with one. But I dont think the bracket that comes with will work for mounting by your leg. At least not cleanly using the factory bolt.

I thought long and hard about getting the one that mounts by your leg but my knee all ready hits the 4wd shifter so I can only imagine how aggravating it would be to have a metal box there.

Good point.... I have the seat up a good amount im around 5' 9'' (I am only 19). Hopefully it wont hinder it too much or I will just keep it up top. But this seems like a good set up because I've seen a lot of CB's above the mirror and the mic cable dangles down which would annoy me. I think I might just have the CB in my glove box and run the mic coming out.

Well see

OH ... and i just realized that this antena is most likely going to hit my garage. ugh

I am guessing that if i mount it on my license plate... I would be fine with a 4'

any experiences with 4' antennas and a standard garage size?

Mine would just hit the garage door (7' opening), but I have a quick disconnect on my antenna that adds around 3" to the height, if I remember correctly. This was with no lift, running metric 33" tires.

After talking to fadeout i am going to stick to the original plan. I am going to get the disconnect and just pop it off every time I need to go into the garage. 3 inches to the height isn't that bad I don't think it will look stupid or anything. thanks

Is it bad that I have to put the "EQ" button up a lot to avoid static?
