CB Radio static
I installed my new cobra 29LX cb today and Firestik 2 tunable tip antenna... Turned it on and I was getting static.... But that's it... I tried to follow instructions on how to calibrate swr with internal calibration and as soon as I hit the transmit button the radio displays a message "antenna warning" is have posted another thread about this with pics and another guy pmd me and said it looked good.. I have copper wire from mount screw to the acorn nut by the subwoofer.... Now I get nothing on cb mode outta nowhere the static just disappeared and won't come back, but in the noaa weather mode it comes in clear as day, it did as soon as I hooked it up... SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP!
The antenna warning on the Cobra 29 is telling you that there is a problem with the antenna and/or cable. Can you post a link to your post with photos? Keep in mind you can pick up NOAA channels by sticking a metal coat hanger in the antenna connector. What size antenna?

I got my CB to work tonight!! After talking through everything I did with another guy, he brought up the washer placement on the mount connector for the coax and antenna. I had the platic washer on the bottom where the coax connects and the metal washer and locking washer on the top where the antenna screws in. I looked at some diagrams and found that the platic washer has to go on top under the metal washer and locking washer. Since I did that, my SWR readings are:
1 - <1
19 = 1.1
40 = 1.5
1 - <1
19 = 1.1
40 = 1.5
