When I grounded to the bolt, I didn't take any paint off the body, so I will have to do that. I figured with the bolt touching the frame and the terminal on the bolt, I wouldn't need to.

I installed my new cobra 29LX cb today and Firestik 2 tunable tip antenna... Turned it on and I was getting static.... But that's it... I tried to follow instructions on how to calibrate swr with internal calibration and as soon as I hit the transmit button the radio displays a message "antenna warning" is have posted another thread about this with pics and another guy pmd me and said it looked good.. I have copper wire from mount screw to the acorn nut by the subwoofer.... Now I get nothing on cb mode outta nowhere the static just disappeared and won't come back, but in the noaa weather mode it comes in clear as day, it did as soon as I hooked it up... SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP!

The antenna warning on the Cobra 29 is telling you that there is a problem with the antenna and/or cable. Can you post a link to your post with photos? Keep in mind you can pick up NOAA channels by sticking a metal coat hanger in the antenna connector. What size antenna?

I got it to work! My swr is just barely above 2 on all channels but when jeep is on its get the warning still but not while it's off and the warning is hit or miss when it's on.... The service manager at cobra electronics said that I can take the cover off and adjust a screw that will stop the warning... He said that by the way my radio is acting the warning level is just set too high

I was able to borrow a SWR meter from a buddy and found that I'm running hot on all channels. the closest I can get to 3 is on channel 40. Any thoughts?

I got my CB to work tonight!! After talking through everything I did with another guy, he brought up the washer placement on the mount connector for the coax and antenna. I had the platic washer on the bottom where the coax connects and the metal washer and locking washer on the top where the antenna screws in. I looked at some diagrams and found that the platic washer has to go on top under the metal washer and locking washer. Since I did that, my SWR readings are:

1 - <1
19 = 1.1
40 = 1.5

Good to hear. That's why I was asking the other poster to submit links to pics of his mount. That is a common issue.
