CB Theft?
just kidding I trust no one. I don't lock my jeep or leave anything of value to me in it. Everything is on a removable mount. I do this for two reasons only Time and pain in the ass to fix or replace the item(s).
If the jeep is locked you increase windows being broken and cut most on the time for no apparent reason. Instead they simply open the door look around see that there is nothing there and move on. If I leave something I will miss and not of any value it becomes a pain in the ass to replace.
If I had a car with an alarm. I can't tell you how much useless shit and trash that would be in it.
But I do have the tuffy glove box but this is the only thing that is locked only because I am convinced someone is going to steal my registration one of these days.
I only have a factory alarm system/keyless entry and it actually surprised me last summer that when my friend climbed in (with top down and doors off) the alarm triggered. He isnt even a big guy either, probably is about 5'5" and 130 lbs. Not bad for stock security so I feel okay about the protection of my $50 CB!
I live in an area where auto theft is big business. Most of the vehicles (usually trucks) end up across the border in Mexico. There was a group around Brownsville Texas that was cought stealing dodge and ford trucks to sell off in Mexico border towns for about $500 dollars. My truck was broken into a few weeks ago and they tried to hotwire it, but somehow screwed it up and ended frying the onboard computer. Shortly after that, I went ahead and bought alarms for my JK, my truck and the other vehicle. I didn't install it as means to stop the engine from starting, but rather more of a noise maker.
I purchased an alarm off of ebay with an RFID controller and a microwave sensor. I added 2 sirens. I put one in the engine bay and the other near the sound bar (small one).
The microwave sensor will go off if someone goes inside the vehicle after a warning. The engine mounted siren is loud, but sitting in the drivers seat with the other alarm in your ear - well its painful.
Yeah, it won't stop someone from taking it, but it will delay them long enough to go somewhere else...
Total price for alarm was around $50 bucks or so.
