Default Clueless newb with questions

Im new to the jk community and im just getting started with a long list of mods, i hear alot of people recommend a cb for trips and meets etc. and i will be planning a few shortly. So my question is, what do i need to get up and running, what will be enough for someone who only gets out once or twice a month, and about how much do they cost, and where to they mount, because i do a trip to PA like twice a month (3hrs) and i hate to take up a ton of room i the cab

There are lots of options here, you can mount your cb between the visors or get a remote cb from cobra to hide the box or you can get a handheld unit if space is tight and you don't want to wire one up. You will need the antenna, the mount, the CB, some coaxial, and wiring for the cb, fuse taps are good as well. I can't say exactly how much you will have since I purchased mine used but I know there are some relatively cheap models of cb's but by the time you get everything I'm guessing $100-150 total investment. Welcome to the forum as well!!!

I've had mine for a couple of trips this year. It's handy to have, if nothing else you can hear the lead person in your group explain why everyone's stopped. I ended up with a Uniden 520 (small and easy to mount), a passenger side shift mount bracket from quadratec, and an Arizona Rocky Road mount with a 3 ft Firestik Firely antenna. Cost me about $200 for everything. Doesn't take up a lot of room and didn't spend a lot of money.

Shop around, you can find package deals on a lot of this. Most on-line shops offer a "starter package" similar to what I described. Don't forget that you'll need a SWR meter (or a friend who has one) to tune your antenna, as well as a short piece of coax to hook it up. So look for something that includes this.
