Default High SWR

I also have installed a 4' firestik antenna and I was getting a high SWR. I then wired my CB directly to my battery and the SWR came down below 2. I ended up pulling the tuning screw completely out to get the reading below 2. Jeeps are bad about high SWR's simply because of how they are designed. I think a regular antenna would be best, not the adjustible. But dang, I don't want to keep buying antennas. You can even get a 3' one and if need be, go into it and cut the wire out to shorten it to get the SWR lower. I wouldn't recommend unless you really know what you are doing.

I'm just going to live with the SWR just below 2. It's not like i'm getting on there and giving an acceptance speech or anything. I still need to test it because on the other end, I was getting some responses that I was squealling on them. But this was when I had my radio plugged into Cig. Lighter and another ground wire attrached from radio to chasis. I have changed that and have not had anybody to test my reception.

I like you, mess with it just about everyday but live where there isn't much reception due to houses and hills.

Don't give up.
