Default Cobra 75 wiring question

I will be instaling my Cobra 75 this weekend, but have a quick question that I couldn't find an answer for.

I want to avoid wiring it directly to the battery incase the unit is left on (don't want to drain my battery). Is it possible to tap into one of the power outlets in the dash or will that fry something?

The left power outlet on the dash is only powered when the key is on.
The right one is powered constant.

My sirius is tied directly into the left lighter receptacle, it's switched, comes off and on with the ignition. I spliced my cb the Cobra 75, right into the same wires coming from the sirius. I have had no issues so far.

If you left it on I wouldn't think it would draw enough to matter. What I want to do is come straight off the battery with a fuse block and mount it under the glove box and be able to tie into it with my cb and any other accessory. There are some good write ups on that here.

I have the Cobra 75 and find that most of the time I have it unplugged, so I don't need to worry about it draining the battery. Unless you plan on using it most of the time, I'd keep it out of sight to prevent any sticky fingers from grabbing it. Like has been said, connecting directly to the battery is best.
