...what brand of spring?

...would the spring go in between the antennae and the quick disconnect?...i guess it would have to.

The spring just happens to be firestix, same as the antenna. You can attach a QD on top of the spring.

I wonder how (or if) attaching a bunch of extras to the base effects the performance of the radio/antenna.

Still waiting for the cobra 29 LX, it's being dropped ship. Not sure if that is good news or bad.
I never considered that! Guess if you add a spring after tuning the thing, all readings would probably change due to the spring.

Spring adds height to antenna...therefore will absolutely change the SWR. Make sure you check and adjust accordingly.

...had i been thinking i probably would of went with the lighter-duty spring instead of the HD spring, reason being that if your antennae snags something you want the spring to bend with the LEAST RESISTANCE and not the fiberglass antennae.

...it's still cool though and by screwing down the 'firefly' tip all the way down and capped i pulled a SWR of 1.1 on ch. 1, a 1.1 on ch.19 and a 1.2 on ch. 40.

...i sh!t you not.

...not much traffic on the air-waves though...alot of latino's for some reason though i guess there is a couple of tree nurseries nearby.

...the weather channel comes in very well also.
