Does bad weather affect the CB?
I'm still pretty new to the whole CB thing and I've got a question about weather. I've got a Cobra 75 installed and it has been working great! Today however, as Isaac has been rolling in, I noticed I completely lost my CB fuzz even with the squelch turned all the way down. So I thought something was wrong with the antenna so I switched over to Weather radio and its crystal clear. More clear than I have ever heard it.
Is the weather to blame for this or is this just a fluke and there is something wrong with my CB?

Nothing is wrong with your radio (probably). Weather can wreak havoc on HF frequencies. For proof, tune in an AM broadcast station (if any are still on the air!
). You'll hear loud static crashes from the lightning, and reception will be fairly awful.
Thank heaven CB frequencies are in the upper portion of the HF spectrum (~27MHz); storms have a much more pronounced effect the lower the frequency.
A good rule of thumb is to stay off the radio when storms threaten. It's not like you'll attract a lightning bolt or anything. Storms can damage your receiver, however.
Cheers!
