Default Firestick Antenna

I don't really know much about CB's and antennas. should i be getting a "No Ground Plane" Antenna or what i'm guessing is a normal antenna?

I'm looking at the firestick II Complete 3Ft Single Antenna Kit. any input on that?
thanks

I asked WalcottCB the same question and they said NGP antennas like the Wilson, will work just fine. Also, a lot of my local Jeep club members use NGP antennas.

What is the difference between the tow, and any advantages or disadvantages between them? I have never heard of this.

I'm a CB noob, so hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in.

A "Regular" CB antenna requires a separate grounding strap/cable run from the antenna to chassis-ground.

A Non-Ground Plane antenna grounds itself through special coaxial cable to the the radio.

I don't know what the advantages of a regular CB antenna would be. Maybe better grounding results in a clearer signal or more range?

From what I've learned that correct. Non-Ground Plane antenna's are good for vehicles/vessels without metal/steel bodies like boats and RV's. For Jeeps you can use a regular antenna and as long as you ground the mount to the body you're setup will use the body of the vehicle as its "ground plane".

Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

That's correct. What I'm not sure of is why would I want a "regular" CB antenna? To me, running a single cable is better than running two (coax and ground strap); so, unless there is a massive performance or price improvement, I'm going with NGP.
