Great contact from the Jeep!. I run about the same setup (Yaesu FT-100 and ATAS 100) on a AAR modified mount. It is fun to make mobile DX contacts with 100W.

Cool Tarheel Antennas

Red David,

I just received an email from Tarheel Antennas that made the following
recommendations for a Jeep installed Yaesu FT857D:

- Little Tarheel II or Little Tarheel HP with a Ameritron sdc-102 memory controller. (good) or

- Tarheel 40 or 75 with a Turbo Tuner full automatic tuner which is specifically made to use with the Yaesu 857D (best)

Visit their website at: www.tarheelantennas.com

Hope this helps,

Sounds good to me. I hadn't looked at the Tarheels for several months. I traded my 897 for the 857 w/ATAS so I didn't have to research antennas. I could move the ATAS to the truck and put the tarheel on the Jeep. Now i just need to find that money tree again .
