That little Cobra 75 hand held is real popular. It's an all in one unit. similar is the Midland 75-822, which I have and am very happy with.

The Midland has the ability to convert into a handheld walk around. Reception is not as good like that, because of the walk around antenna, but it is an option that the Cobra does not have. I have seen both work in a Jeep and with a standard mobile antenna, the Midland and Cobra are about equal in operation.

I have the Midland 75-822. good as a handheld to jump outta the jeep with. That feature came in handy when a fellow jeeper lost 4wd and we had to pull him up a long deep climb. Acted as a middleman standing at the halfway point. everyone could hear me Lima Charlie.

Because the JK doesn't have a lot of convenient spots for a normal-sized CB head unit, the units that put all the controls in the microphone tend to be used a lot. The problem is that most of the places that have room for the head unit are very difficult to reach or see from the driver's seat.
Some people have done overhead mounts, but security of the radio may be an issue for you with those. Tuffy also makes a replacement center console and an overhead console that have room for a CB or other radio in a convenient and secure spot, but they are kinda spendy - especially the center console.
Either the Cobra or Midland will work just fine. I happen to have a Cobra 75, and it's been great for me.
Lots of people also seem to have the Midland and have given good feedback on it.
Just be aware that these very compact units will do everything that most people need on the trail, but won't have all the same features as some of the big units geared towards truckers. They may also be more difficult to repair if you do have a problem.
Decide what abilities are important to you, and then pick one up.
These days, the best place to go for worthwhile CB advice seems to be a CB shop at a big truckstop. Truckers use CB's more than anyone else, so I suppose it makes sense that CB shops are often at truck stops. Ask around your local Jeep community, and they may be able to steer you to a local business. That's what I ended up doing, and I ended up getting advice from the man that a lot of truckers say is the best CB "guy" in my half of Canada.
