Dont laugh. On the right frequency the muffler and tailpipe can act like another antenna. I have 2 ground straps on mine back to the frame.

That's true....so can ANY particular wire on your rig that happens to be just the right length. Fuel pump noise however is usually real hard to get rid of. You may want to try a ferrite choke for this.

Hey Chispas, I am a newbie here. Just bought a 2011 Jepp Wrangler unlimited with the 70th anniversary package. I was into CB for quite a few years and wanted to mount my CB in my new Jeep. I made a slipseater that sits on the floor behind the passangers seat. I ran seperate powers to my radio and amp from the battery. I bought a Rear tire mount for my antenna and ran both the coax and the ground through the grommet and sanded some paint off the chassis where they have the jack and crowbar. I connected the ground to this point.I got rid of the firestick 4 footer that came with the mount and put my Wilson 2000 trucker on the mount. I am very pleased with this setup.

I just installed my Antenna using a Teraflex mount, didnt need a ground, I measured it with a multimeter and had a 1ohm ground from the mount to the frame, SWR was .5:1 on 1 and 1.75:1 on 40.

So I am not even sure a ground is needed on these tail gates.
