Handheld CB Users !!!
i would totally recommend everyone to go this route therefore you dont have to worry about mounting a bigger unit somewhere inside. Reception is great and you can keep it out of sight when not in use.
Thanks to ellsrya for the good info. I followed his lead and mine turned out OK. I didn't use the heat shrink tube. I bought and antenna/mount/cable kit from the truck stop and the bracket was into the hard top glass.
I went to Home Depot and got a 2 1/2" pipe clamp and cut one of the flanges off to make my mount.

Here is a pretty clean way to gain full reception for your handheld cb but still keeping it clean and not to many wires
works great!
You will need
3 ft Antenna cable(black)
bnc to uhf connector
2" female to female unf connector
18' antenna cable
heat shrink tubing
chair leg cap
i find that the shrink tube is what keeps it clean looking
Let me know if you want more pics or info
NOTE: Use a 5/8 bit to drill through the black plastic and a 7/8 bit to go through the plastic underneath to allow room for your connection to go through
Finished product with chair leg cap and a piece of heat shrink around the nut

Same as above but with cap removed

Same as above but with wire attached

Very clean

Attached bnc connector to cable and heat shrink to clean it up

How i ran the cable from antenna

My mount with shrink tube again

works great!

Looks great! can you post a side view of your antenna mount? there were some concerns with hardtop window clearance in my thread.

Great mod! I've got a 5watt handheld UHF that works fine outside the Jeep but dismally inside. An external aerial/ antenna is just the ticket. How do you pop that trim panel between the centre console box and handbrake/ cupholders out?
