I have a full-size radio sitting in the garage, which I plan on mounting above the rearview mirror. I just haven't found anyone selling a bracket for this purpose.

I use a Cobra 75.

I have the small base mounted under the glove box (and by mounted, I mean it easily zip-ties to a stock support down there). The base connects to power, the antenna, and is where you attach the CB when you want to use it.

IMO, the Cobra 75 is the best of both worlds. You get more "real-sized" CB performance with the convenience of it taking up pretty much no space in your JK. (i.e. when you're not wheeling, you simply disconnect the handset from the base and store it elsewhere).

What performance is better with the cobra than the midland?
Midland can be used out of the vehicle. Couldn't that be considered best of both worlds?

I meant performance better than the simple handhelds like the one below, which is what I typically see folks in my Jeep club use when they don't want to "mount something" inside their Jeep. You typically can't hear them for crap more than two Jeep-lengths away.

IMO, that gives that particular Midland an advantage over the Cobra 75.

I gotcha. I thought you meant compared to the midland 75-822.
