Ok I know nothing about cb radios and just installed my cobra 29 lx that my girlfriend bought me . I have it hooked up to a 4' Firestik antenna ... Now my problem is I can't figure out how to tune it do I can hear/talk to people ...

Did you tune your antenna yet? You need to do that before you start to broadcast to prevent burning up your radio. It will also seriously limit your reception with it out of tune. If your antenna is not tuned check out this link for how it is done, or take it to a truck-stop and have them tune it.

If you have done that then you take your squelch and put it as low as possible. Right to the point were you stop hearing static. You can also turn your RF gain up to strengthen the channel. If you put it all the way up you might get some interference from other channels and get blips from far off conversions. That's about all there is too it. If you want to test it go to your closest interstate and put it on channel 19. That's the trucker channel.
