If you get an antenna spring, get the firm one. If you mount to the bumper go 4’ if up higher like a tire mount 3’ is good.

I just toasted mine in the parking garage at work. I was jamming some tunes so didn't hear it wacking the concrete. Needless to say I need another one. The coil wrap got cut on my trail rack.

Or just use a whip style. Thats what I run and no worries about garage or tree's etc.

Doesn't hit the jeep either........

Go with the 3'. With my 3' and TeraFlex backet mounted on the lower section of the tailgate, the top of the antenna is below the soft top roofline by about 3".

I've broken a Firestik already, not by flex, but by force (tire carrier went into the antenna after banging into it against a tree). What I can tell you is that once the outer plastic shield is compromised, the antenna will flop any which way it wants to. The exterior shield is what gives the antenna is ridgity.

Thanks everyone. I got the Ultramount kit with the 3' firestik from Cool Tech, and I'm installing it tomorrow
