I have a Cobra 75 and it serves its purpose for trail use in a compact package.

Is it a high-end CB that is tunable, etc.? No. But it's a <$100 unit that is super easy to mount and does the job. My use of CB is pretty much show up to a run, tune to channel 16 (or whatever) and leave it there until I get home. This is not a precision instrument, but it does not need to be.

For what it's worth, I do know a couple of people who have had 75's fail, but no more than any other CB setup (or any Jeep upgrade for that matter). Cobra or the reseller have been good about making it right. Mine has held up okay so far.

The audio is a little tinny, and no, the controls are not illuminated at night, but I would think about whether this is a dealbreaker for you. In my primary usage mode of tuning to a single channel and hitting Push-To-Talk or occasionally adjusting the volume or squelch, this is not an issue at all.

My two cents. Let us know what you decide and why.

Well I like the 75 mostly because of the ability to make a clean and small install.. I'm on a college budget.. So the 75 is a good price I think since you can get the whole package and set up for about $180.. And if it does crap out.. Like MANY MANY things have before lol.. Ill send it back to get fixed lol.. Then if it can't be fixed.. Well go from there.. Ill let yall know when I finally get it and install!!!

Or the midland which is similar in size to the 75 but you can remove it and use it cordless(great as a spotter on long runs).
