I think this would be the best solution

Default I think this would be the best solution

There are a couple issues that a typical Jeep has in the cockpit area....1) A good discreet place to mount a CB, and 2) the stock armrest is too low. Why not combine the two? Just imagine taking a padded armrest (4-4/5" high) and having a CB hidden within it so that the controls are accessible from the front (towards the dash). You could even have a flap of fabric that could velcro over the whole deal. The challenges would be to utilize an external speaker as the stock would be enclosed, as well as routing the wires from the armrest to the center console area, but this shouldn't be too tough. I might try to fab this myself, but I have sent the idea to Benchmark designs as I would rather see something along those quality levels. I recommended they pick a nice smaller unit like the Uniden or the Cobra and just build it around that. I don't think people would really need many CB options, and it would be too difficult to build an armrest that would handle multiple brands.

Thoughts?

I could have sworn I already saw someone do this. Has it tied down with a big velcro strap.

That sounds a little ghetto to me. I am thinking of something that looks like an extension of the factory armrest, or a padded cover that has a cubby in it for a CB.

How about zip-tieing it down to the armrest and draping a bar towel over the top?

What is bad about that idea is not having the ability to see the tuner, SWF meter and other items on interest.

Tuffy has a rather nice console that the CB fits rather nicely in. It's not in Quadratec's catalogue, though. But if you go to the TUFFY website, it's there, and it's rather nice. I'm saving up for mine.
