Next should be a pneumatic inflatable jack or at least a Hi-Lift jack. Then you should have a professional level first aid kit, suitcase size, and the knowledge on how to use its contents. I'm not going into the shelter, food, water aspects or the tool and spare parts kits that should also be carried while going it alone. I could go on for pages, but there's no reason to beat a dead horse other than for the pure joy of it.

Yes fate does, in fact, favor the well prepared. That being said, a SPOT GPS unit, by itself, does not make you well prepared. It will, however, make it easier for the Search and Rescue teams to find your body.

Never go alone !
Well......I go hunting and fishing and sometimes wheelin' alone here in Alaska (pretty much wherever I've lived) all the time, and love it immensely. Yes it's a risk, but people that don't take risks in life from time to time, if you ask me,.....aren't really living. Now I'm not saying go out and be stupid, but IMO, we all need to let nature replenish our mind and body sometimes, one on one, just to help us stay connected. If you never get out into the wilderness alone.....believe me, the rewards FAR outweigh the risks.

Proper Prier Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance these are known as the 7 P's. erips and sat. phones are just to much money for the one time use and I know you can't put a price on life. I myself use a C.B. with a 300watt linear on it. I know it has limited use/distance and is illegally. I would think a ham set up would be practical for solo and everyday travel. And a little easier on the wallet.

Don't know how I missed this thread a few weeks ago. I sure do like the perspective shown here. I just touched on it in a reply on a different thread to AK4Dave about lockers. My opinion is if a person goes out and is stupid that is Darwinism at its finest. Seems like most people can't take a dump without someone holding their hand and they try to make the rest of us feel like we are doing something wrong by taking individual responsibility upon our selves.

I believe the duty of a man is to take care of those he loves. You can't take care of others till you can stand on your own two feet.
