Kenwood TM-D700 Install....
I went ahead and pulled the panel down, drilled the holes, and screwed the control unit in. It's rock solid, no movement what so ever. The only issue I can see is that the characters on the screen are really "light" from that angle. I'm sure it's partially because the unit has been around the block a few times, and also because it's probably 10 yr old tech. I'm still not unhappy with it.
I haven't finalized the main unit mounting yet. (translation: it's thrown under the seat with the power wire going to the cigarette lighter) It does all seem to function properly. Now to find the hockey puck RS GPS and the custom wiring for APRS.
