I installed my CB the other day and had never heard not to key one up without the antenna connected. So guess what I did....that's right. I didn't do it for and extended time but I saw on here where it may be fried! How can I tell other than the obvious talking to another vehicle?

 

You knocked out the finals. It just takes a second to fry it. It is cheaper to buy a new radio than to have it fixed, unless you have a big Cobra, ect.....

 

Cheapest and easiest way is attach an antenna and see what happens. Ask for a radio check on Ch 19 there's usually somebody out there. Unless you live several miles from interstates.

 

how long was it qued up? might be okay, but probably not as strong as before..

 

Called a friend and had him turm his on. I talked to him and he could hear me. I don't even have my antenna on a bracket or grounded yet so I guess I'm good?
