This could be a stupid question, but have you checked your squelch or RF gain? Turn the squelch counter clockwise and stop right before you hear noise. Turn the RF gain clockwise to expand your broadcasting range.

After almost pulling my hair out and chucking the CB out the window, I came here and asked... I finally realized my ground sucked balls.

Once I realized that I needed to ground the coax AND the antenna base to a GOOD ground source with 10 guage wire, it was a piece of cake to get reception and replies to my checks.

I get a little below 2.5 on Ch40, and way below 1.5 on the rest... but it's all under 3, so I'm happy.

Make sure your all your ground spots are good.

 

Welp, we have success!! I checked the mic by plugging in a headset in the back and switching to pa.....there were two inlets though I couldn't read what they both said cuz I was lazy and didn't take the cb out of the mount....but one was completely dead and the other was really bad static...so then I started thinking....

I did the next thing recommended by you guys and checked the ground for the cb....bingo. I had forgot I grounded it in the same place as my windshield mounted lights....probably not the best idea either. So I changed it to a place more direct to the chassis and now I can hear people even better AND my SWR is steady at 2 no matter what channel I'm on.

the static one was probably the ear connector. I really suggest you get your setup verify this week end.
