Yeah I bought a mount from the truck stop last night. The antenna contacts the spare so I moved it and drilled into the side of the 3rd brake light mount. Now it give me easier access to move it if I need to and lifted it up several inches. I've still gotta run a ground and solder the coax. Should be done by tonight, fingers crossed.

Ok so I've had it set up and working for about a week now. I went to a truck stop and bought an L shaped firestick mounting bracket and a 3' firestick antenna. I mounted it as high up as possible on the side of the third brake light.

After getting the cables through the tailgate I soldered the connector up (watched a YouTube tutorial first to make sure it was done right) I ran the coax down the passenger side and the ground wire down and around the inside of the door seal and back up to the locking mechanism. I actually went to the bottom bolt in the last picture scraping away the paint under there.

After finding a decent place to tune I completely ballsed it up. I couldn't get a tuneable antenna so with a trusty hacksaw I trimmed away, ruining a perfectly good antenna. I read the SWR readings wrong, I should have elevated it. Back to the truck stop I bought a spring mount and a diesel brand antenna. Back to my nice level ground with no obstructions I went. Checked the SWR and it barely moved off 1 on channel one and around 1.3 on channel 40. No need to trim and I've being getting awesome range on both highways and trails.
