It is unlikely that it is a battery problem. The CB draws less than an amp transmitting. It is more likely that RF is getting into the Jeeps wiring from a bad antenna cable connection or wire routing.

After having the battery checked:

Have you checked your antenna SWR lately.

Check all your cables for bad connections, especially the coax shield to connector. Move the CB power cables and antenna cable away from any other wiring.

Try grounding the CB junction box if not already grounded.

It is also possible that the CB coiled cable has a bad connection in it somewhere.

Good luck with this.

I have been very happy with my 75.

Mike

Well I finally got around to installing the coax this weekend. I was stupid and ordered the coax on ebay instead of going to the local truck stop store. It took 3 weeks to get the cable from Indiana.

Anyway running the coax went pretty easy. I ran it through the grommet on the back door and ended up putting it with the existing wiring for the tail gate. That made it a really clean install.

I first made a bracket to fit mounted on the radio screws and didn't like the looks of it. The wife had a great idea of mounting it to the heat vent so I made up a hangar for the mic and screwed it to the vent. Now if I want to hide it all I have to do is turn it. Nice and clean.

Nice! I was looking at placing a mount right below the window switches, but I'll keep that in mind if my first plan doesn't work out.

I have that plate if you want it.. I mounted my Cobra 75 plug right in the plastic trim instead of using the plate. Shoot me a PM if you want the plate.

Has anyone thought about mounting the unit overhead like on the sound bar? It looks like a fairly easy do as long as the plastic would hold up and you can mount a hanger for the mic / radio.

I've thought about it.. also thought of putting the plug up in the plastic trim in the windshield header but as I figure it, this would require an extension coax from the remote unit to the spot on the windshield and figured that would negatively impact reception. Plus the extension cords are hard to find.

That's exactly what I did, and it's worked out reaaly good. The only con is that it's a pain when I have to adjust the SWR's because I have to take a speaker out and dig inside the speaker bar for the base unit. Overall, I'm glad I mounted it this way.
