Is my Cobra 75 WX ST dying?
See my previous thread.
I bought a pretty sweet little external speaker and drilled it into the front of my sound bar, ran the cables through my roll cage covers and into the dash where my junction box is. I didn't like drilling it in there, but it's out of sight and I've even gotten some compliments from it. It works fine, better actually as I can hear everything better than I could from the internal speaker.
So, I recommend going to a truck stop and buying a speaker and just use that. Cheaper than getting a whole new CB. I want a full size one but I have no place to
Mount it. Besides, a mobile Ham is in my future, would rather save up for that.
Also, after some searching on the web, it seems a lot of people are having this speaker issue with this kind of cobra CB.

Or switch to a Uniden Pro 510 or 520(can use a PA speaker with 520). Cheaper then a Cobra and durable..... Mount it beside stick shift console... I did mine on passenger side doesn't get in the way comes with bracket screws etc.

Assuming you have checked your ground and your SWR, I'd say that you may just simply have a defective product, IMO. Seeing how new it is, you should be able to contact Cobra and get it fixed/replaced.

UPDATE to my problems.
I had my CB on while I was on a 8 hour drive home and I heard people talking and I was excited because I thought my radio wasn't broken then I took a look around and realized I was passing a weigh station with a bunch of trucks lined up. So my range is about 100 metres.
I hooked up my SWR meter and nothing happens. the needle doesn't move. I took my spare tire mount for my antenna off and removed some of the powder coating so I would have a good ground. I have a separate ground wire running from the mount so I have a good ground. I'm thinking it the radio which I hope its not because I don't want to go through all the trouble of getting it replaced

What is it reading??
also is your radio still installed with the SWR meter?
I have only used the SWR meters that require the radio be removed.
I would look at a Coax problem. Here is why, I had a open in a coax that gave me a 2.8 SWR no matter what I did...
I also would check you connectors. You will always pick up some kind on Comms with a bad coax, in your case you say about 100Meters. If your coax is good and your SWR via Antenna is bad you would be picking up more Comms further then 100Meters.
an example of a bad coax,,, I was hearing my party on 2M just fine but they could not hear me.... My connector/coax connection was bad... preventing me from transmitting a good signal..
So when you say the needle with your SWR meter doesn't move I assume that is with all channels.. 1-40.

Where can I buy Coax cable locally?
