IMHO, it should work good for you.
I thought about using that but went with a Diamond K 412 mount on the hood and a Larson 2/70 antenna.
Seems to work great for me and all Im using, for the time being, is a Yaesu HT.Hope this helps.
Hopefully, Santa puts a Yaesu 8800 under the tree this year.

I looked for an IC-220H but couldn't find one. I'm thinking you may have meant the IC-2200H...??? http://www.rigpix.com/icom/ic2200h.htm
If so, I'm sure you'll really love that rig. I've had two of the older versions which were the IC-2000H....one for mobile, and one in the shack hooked up to a 10 element yagi. Plenty of power and very strong audio.
IMO, (as well as other HAMs)....the Diamond antennas are a bit overpriced and not because they are of that much better quality. It's very hard to beat the Larsen antennas.

Only thing with the TF mounts, is I think you'll have to grind off the powder coat to get a good ground. Cool Tech LLC is worth a look for some good mounts. I ended up getting their gatemount - if you get 2, you can mount both antennas on the tire carrier, not to mention it is full-on stainless steel, so good grounding. Check them out.

Personally, IMHO, the only problem with the Icom is to seperate the control head, it needs a seperate cable for the mike and one for the control head itsself.
Thats the reason Im looking at the Yaesu.
One cable does it all and the mike connects to the head.
In regards to the antenna, the reason I chose the antenna I did, is it seems to be a little more flexible than some of the others on the market.
