I've got the UltraMount. It has withstood some pretty strong hits with a Firestik mounted to it and hasn't bent or broken at all. The Gate Mount would put your CB up a little higher, which would be nice, but the UltraMount looks awesome and doesn't send your antenna wagging every time you open the gate.

i like the gate mount. if you haven't gotten your mount yet, i got mine for around 5 bucks from napa and it mounts on the tail gate and the mount came with everything you need. hope this helps.

That is a great looking mount. It is especy appealing for the cost. Did you use an existing hole? What is "everything" it came with? Ground wire?

i did use one of the existing holes in the tail gate. i did have to bore the hole out just a bit on the mount, but that was really easy with a drill. to be more clear, it came with the mount and hardware-bolts and washers for your cb cable and antenna to connect too. i had to buy the ground wire. i got it from napa too. and thinking about it, its not much more, but i think i may have paid 10 bucks for it, but its still a lot cheaper than the cooltech mount.

Any chance you remember the brand or have part number or anything? I called NAPA and they said they don't have anything like that. Either my local NAPA doesn't carry it or they didn't know what I was talking about. I really like your mount and want to do the exact same setup.

no, i don't. but i'll get it. my napa didn't have it in store either, but the had a part catalog that had cb stuff in it and was able to order it for me. it only took one day. i do remember that the mount is actually a side view mirror mount, but it works for exactly what you want. i would go down there and have them look in their catalogs. Put this into google, its similar, but i'll the other info for ya. Mirror Mount for GM and Dodge Trucks

Default Gate Mount

I just finished my Cooltech Gate Mount install yesterday. I love it. I also recommend getting the quick connect fitting for the firestick, just makes it easier to remove once the spare is back on.
